Location
La Casona is located in the historic central district of Cusco, Peru, just off of Plaza de Armas (main square).
The 16th century former conquistador‘s mansion has been beautifully restored into a private oasis for the guests of La Casona’s twelve suites.
Our suite featured European style french doors that opened onto the square below.
Service
Service was top notch. We were greeted with coco mint tea to fight the effects of altitude and of course, an oversized room key.
Where as we had trouble indicating “do not disturb” at Inkaterra’s Machu Picchu property, that was no problem at La Casona. Each room comes equipped with a baby in a crib, a token to place outside your suite door to request privacy.
When called upon that evening to help us build a fire in our fire place, staff responded by building a quite roaring fire indeed!
Room
Our room was certainly fit for Spanish aristocracy. We stayed in the inn’s top of the line suite which featured a king bed, sitting area with fire place and large marble bathroom.
La Casona pays attention to every detail, the floors were pleasantly heated and even the candlesticks felt museum worthy.
My favorite part of the room was the exquisite bathtub. What a way to start the day!
Amenities
The inn has a small restaurant on site. I did not get the opportunity to enjoy but heard that the food is very good.
Each room night comes with breakfast included. We chose to take our breakfast in the suite and enjoyed a beautiful spread of fruit breads and tea. Eggs and heavier options are available as well.
If you are looking to be pampered, the inn has a small massage room on site.
Value
The room rates at La Casona are definitely on the high end for Cusco options; you are paying for an intimate peak into history and superb comfort and service.
